INFORMATION PROCESSING 10
This picture is representing my students in information processing. Students were constantly playing games and "tuning out" of my class. At first it was a struggle for me because every time I turned my back, they would be back into the games. I literally could stand over a students shoulder and they would still be playing the game. It was a huge power struggle for me in the class but I ended up turning these games into a reward. Students were given a task sheet at the beginning of every class. If they were

completed their work and handed it in on moodle (which I would check) they would be able to spend the rest of their class time playing games quietly. This worked great because students were working on their material in order to have some gaming time. I did have a student however, that would just do as much work as he needed to get 50% in the class and then start playing games. I approached him one day and asked him to come spend his lunch hours on completely these assignments correctly. We talked about

his future plans and I got to know him on a personal level and tried to help him raise his expectation in grades. He started to say hello every time he passed me in the hall and sometimes would even stay after class to work on his assignments. I think it just took some mutual respect. I ended up really enjoying this information processing class and really enjoyed the students.
